Thor the movie

Great to be one of the first to watched Thor the movie today. The plot is old school fairy tale and there isn’t much surprise. The film is executed well so there’s no reason not to see it as a Marvel fan. It is packed with actions & beautiful scenes of Asgard.

The story starts with Jane Forster knocking down Thor in the middle of nowhere as he gets banished by Odin for Thor’s own stupid act.

Like other Marvel superhero movies, Stan Lee was on the big screen for a split second in the beginning. Just love to see da man for all his brilliant creations. Then the fairy tale continues on how the immortal learn to become a true king material on Earth. This is the rather obvious part.

For the Norse god’s custom in the film, as Jane Foster puts it “nice outfit”. And I love how Sif looks! See for yourselves 8)

There can never be enough actions for an action hero movie, don’t you think?! Would like to see more Thor in action battling whatever or whoever putting Asgard or Earth in danger, and more of Jane Forster on the big screen.

The destroyer looks like some monster from Ultraman though. A bit odd there.

Worth to watch Thor beating people & stuff nonetheless.

Don’t miss the clip at the very end after roller for the next movie hint. After you’ve watched the movie, tell me what the heck is that thing please! The stuff from Black Panther’s home country?

Thor’s one of the character I like in the Marvel universe. The reason is probably the fading fond memory of the mid-70’s Marvel cartoon series when I was tiny 8D

Can’t wait to see Thor in action again in The Avengers with others.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Iron Man 2

Another master piece from the Marvel land. Once again you’ll see Stan Lee on the big screen for a brief second. Don’t miss it 8)

The plot this time is simple but never bores you with all the graphical scenes. It’s packed with actions from the two heroes – Iron Man and War Machine. The only thing you might want to see in the movie is probably for Spider-man to meet Iron man. Can’t wait to see Captain America and Thor before they join Iron Man with Nick Fury. Arrhh such a long wait.

Don’t leave the cinema til the very end for a hint of the next hero coming to the big screen!

The Incredible Hulk

Watched The Incredible Hulk tonight. It’s an entertaining movie. The story line is pretty much predictable and sticks closer to the comic origin than the previous movie.

But I prefer the look of the Hulk from the previous movie. I think it looks more like the comic version I like. The Hulk looks much gray than green, and the face is much more frightening.

The CG is nicely done too.

Having the beautiful version of Betty Ross tagging along is nice but she doesn’t do much in the movie. Too bad.

Once again Stan Lee is in the big screen. I think this is the longest screen time of Stan in all the Marvel movies. Nice 8)

I give 3.5 stars out of 5.

At the end, it hints the next movie. Sort of…

Iron Man – 4 stars out of 5

Just watched Iron Man last night and it’s well executed. Simple plot and the movie doesn’t try to tell you too much. Stays focus on the origin. All the CG is very good. Actors perform well. It has everything I expect from Iron Man. I love it. It’s a great Marvel to movie conversion. Well worth the money to go into the cinema and spend 2 hours to enjoy the movie.

FYI, don’t leave when the credits starts. There’s a special feature of a minute of so at the very end AFTER the credits. Here’ the hint. It’s a Marvel team related to Iron Man of course, and its name starts with “A”. The character introduce the “project” to Tony Stark is the leader from a government agency. If you’ve ever read any Marvel comics, you should have known which team I’m talking about.

Iron Man shows on 30 April, 2008

FYI, Iron Man will be showing in Hong Kong on 30 April, 2008. I’m looking forward to seeing this movie. To find out the release date for your location, check here.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand

Watched X3 last night and I am disappointed. The CG is beautifully done but the story totally sucks.

There’s no more in-depth character development or any inner self revealing.

Although, there’s some unexpected scenes but the whole screen play is too thin. It’s just lack of substances!

My last comment about X3 is … get Bryan Singer back!

Next movie should be Pixar’s Cars in July. Then probably Superman Returns directed by Bryan Singer. Then maybe Ghost Rider starring my favorite actor Nicolas Cage.
