OK, so I guess wrong. No Newton MessagePod. iPhone is certainly executed nicely with all the cool technologies. I particular like the multi-touch screen (like the control in Minority Report). However you may find it quite discouraging to use iPhone in Hong Kong if things are not improved and here’s why.
Apple, Inc. will have to find a local service provider to work on the visual voice mail. Likely candidates are PCCW and SmarTone-VodaPhone and I bet it’s PCCW for their coverage in mobile subscriber & broadband market. Judging from early days of 3G browser performance, their technology and support aren’t great at all.
Goggle map doesn’t work for HK. It doesn’t return search result on Hong Kong address for instance.
Yahoo’s free push e-email will probably be included with the monthly plan at your cost.
Your money will be sucked away when you are happily surfing with GPRS trying to download a 10MB QuickTime trailer to show how cool it is to your friends.
iPhone doesn’t do Microsoft Exchange. Someone is not happy (but not me).
Chinese input….no idea. Although I only know Cangjie input but mobile user would probably prefer to use T9. Is there T9 input for Mac OS X (Mini) out there?
SMS costs HK$1 each unless you got yourselves some ultimate data usage plan. Go figure.
32GB solid state disk is out there so the current 8GB capacity is a bit turning me off.
