Camera Connection Kit for iPad but not for iPhone?

You wouldn’t know how bad I wish my good old camera adapter for iPod can work for my iPhone. Wondering if the new Camera Connection Kit for iPad will work with iPhone? If it can, then I’ll probably just buy it. But then it probably will not work 8(
